So NASCAR with their heavy hand has portrayed Brad Keselowski and Carl Edwards as friends with a mutual understanding.

Give me a break.  I can´t believe many of the Sprint Cup drivers like the way Keselowski drives (as a rookie).  I don´t know if they think he is dangerous or just too big for his rookie pants.

I don´t agree with Edwards putting another driver´s life in danger, but I also doubt he thought the #12 car would get air-borne.  But, teaching someone who is too big for his britches a lesson is part of joining the club.

My grandfather was inthe US Navy during World War II and I remember him talking proudly about the ritual that passed upon every sailor as they crossed the equator for the first time.  The ¨rookies¨ would get the crap beat out of them (until they were bleeding) and then get tossed into the sea.  Imagine the salt water stinging the open cuts.  Fraternities have some reputation for this too, but perhaps not so dramatic.

Anyway, NASCAR says early in the year, they are going to try and stay out of rivalries (what I think they meant is that they wanted to promote them to improve TV ratings).  So are they going to stay out, or not.  As NASCAR´s Helton said, ¨we have to keep separate the incident Edwards caused and the result that the car got airborne.

So what´s up?
