I am a US Citizen living in Barcelona, Spain since 2004 (I also lived in Barcelona in 1991 & 1992).
I have always been a fan of motorsports, collecting and playing with cars as a child, then buying a 1966 Ford Mustang on my 16th birthday (which I still have). We had a lot of dirt track racing in Western Illinois - where I grew up and I remember many Friday or Saturday nights attending the local tracks and listening to the noise - and wondering what was going through the minds of the drivers as they whirled around the track.
I was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and while we moved to Illinois when I was 6, I still remember my family planning for weeks around the Indianapolis 500 each year (both before we moved as well as after we settled in Illinois [making the pilgrimage back to ¨Indy¨]).
After finishing my university degrees, I worked for Accenture - and the most interesting project was a joint venture with BMW´s F-1 team during 1988 and 1989, in which we developed a very comprehensive system to extract car performance data from all the onboard systems in order to make adjustments during races.
Over the past 5 years, while living in Barcelona, I have been actively involved in licensing motorsport properties for Tecnitoys (which commercializes the SCX Brand of Slot Cars), which gave me even more exposure to the business of motorsports and many of the important contacts in the industry that have been necessary to bring RaceFansTV to life.
Fortunately, there is a great deal of racing around Barcelona, as well as key elements of the motorsport industry. Creating RaceFansTV has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life so far - as I get to invest a great deal of my time in a sport I love, and work with fascinating people and companies to obtain content for the site, as well as present it to enthusiasts in a context that brings out the rich history and ongoing pagentry that is motorsport competition.
I believe this website and our growing community can be much better - and this challenge to anticiapte the desires of our community and get the job done keeps me highly motivated.
