Dr. Chuilli sang the praises of everybody involved in the event and complimented the efforts of the Royal Yachting Association and sponsors, Powerboat P1, who contributed to an outstanding weekend in St. Helens. Speaking after the first-ever Formula Future event to be staged in the UK, Dr. Chuilli said: "We should all feel proud to have succeeded in gathering 75 teens for this event and more than 250 people travelled from all over the world to come to this prestigious powerboat racing club.
"The UIM is committed to encouraging new junior racers into the sport and to emphasise fun, competition and teamwork. We have an opportunity to outline the importance of safety, education and responsibility and create a pathway for progression.
Developing the UIM Junior Racing classes is one of the key objectives of the UIM. The existing Formula Future programme provides a platform for junior powerboat racers to improve basic water awareness skills and it seeks to encourage new participants into the sport through a structured youth training and junior racing programme. He added: "Junior promotion, junior training and junior involvement are crucial to the ongoing success of the sport and the UIM."
