Overview
| Autosport International (or ASI) is an annual event motor show catering for automotive industry professionals, non-trade people who are actively involved in the sport (such as competitors etc) and the motorsport fans who simply enjoy following and being close the sport. |
| History of publication(s) | Auto sport International, Europe’s largest motor-sport trade show is held at the National Exhibition Centre, in Birmingham, United Kingdom and operated by Haymarket Exhibitions. It celebrated its 20th year in January 2010, with 2009 Formula One World Champion Jenson Button attending and sharing his exploits in winning the drivers championship with the Brawn team.
The format of the show incorporates two trade followed by two public days, uniquely catering for the industry and motor-sport fans alike. It covers all areas of motor-sport, both professional as well as grass roots, from karting right up to Formula One. This allows both visitors and exhibitors to meet motor-sport professionals in a business to business environment, yet also market products directly to motor-sport enthusiasts. During the first two trade days, the show incorporates Autosport Engineering, a specialist show dedicated to motor-sport and high-performance engineering. The weekend days are open to the public, where anyone can see the latest race cars that compete all over the world, savour exclusive launches, enjoy special discounted prices on many motor-sport and car-related products, brush shoulders with top drivers and celebrities (past guests have included Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, David Coulthard and Mark Webber) and relax in the company of other people who share the same interests and passions. Its vital statistics include a latest audited attendance of 77,130 which include over 4,000 overseas visitors and a 75% male demographic. All categories of track and off-road motor racing are represented, including Formula One, BTCC, Le Mans 24 Hours and much more. The show also has a 'Live Action Arena' where spectators can witness motor-sport action indoors. Autosport International often attracts big name drivers from the world of motor-sport. Drivers who have attended include David Coulthard, Gary Paffett, Takuma Sato, Anthony Davidson, Allan McNish, Damon Hill plus 2008 formula one world champion Lewis Hamilton and 2009 world champion Jenson Button |
